Suggest A Show

Do you live in Malden? Have a special recipe that you'd like to share? Let us know! Heck, you don't even have to be a resident to suggest a topic for a show - we're interested in all ideas. (Of course, since it takes us 2-3 months to tape and edit each episode, you may have to wait a while before your great idea makes it into our schedule...we are volunteers doing this in our free time, after all).

We're especially interested in featuring local cooks from diverse backgrounds - in fact, the Malden Cultural Council funded our grant application to do just that. So send us an email, or make your suggestion in the comment section below. We look forward to hearing from you!

Malden is --or should be-- the "Pizza Capitol of Massachusetts". Therefore, I think you should do an episode that is a "Pizza Tour of Malden".

The episode could feature some exterior shots of Karen and Paula on the sidewalk in front of a pizza shop, "So here we are in front of "X" Pizza on "Y" street." THen you go in, talk to the owners a bit and then sample their pizza. You could easily cover 7 or 8 pizza shops in a 45 minute show.

All communities have PIZZA in common!

Hey Anonymous! Thanks for the great idea. As someone who grew up in the NYC area, I bemoan the dearth of what I consider “real” pizza, and I’m always scouting for good pizza. It might be a while before we get to it -- we have lots of ideas in the queue – but it would certainly be a fun show, and Malden has as many pizza places as Somerville has bars!

Something I've had to do on occasion--create meal that four people would enjoy from ingredients I already have in the pantry or fridge. No running to the grocery store for last minute items or seasonings, herbs, etc. One example of this would be "Tuesday Soup". Any left over meat, veg. already in the crisper, stock inthe pantry or freezer. INgredients would vary by kitchen and day. "Tuesday soup" is my name for this meal. Think about it!

Thanks Susan! That's a great idea. My litmus test for a creative cook is someone who can do just that. I like the "Tuesday Soup" idea. Maybe we could have Karen, me and one or two other people look in someone's fridge and pantry and then each say what they would make, and then cook one or a combination of the ideas! I think it would be a fun way to show people what you can do. Funny b/c Good Eats last night was on making stuff with left overs. Another thing this makes me think of is "Staples to Have in Your Pantry." Years ago, my mom gave me a cookbook called "15-Minute Meals." She provides a list of things to have on hand that are then used in the recipes. I haven't used the book in a while. Maybe I should revisit it. Does it have a chard recipe perhaps?:-)
